Jesús Lozoya Solís

Jesús Lozoya Solís (born March 31, 1910 in Parral / Chihuahua ; † May 22, 1983 in the Hacienda Cocoyoc , Morelos ) was a Mexican military doctor who served as provisional governor of the state of Chihuahua from 1955 to 1956 .

Life

Jesús Lozoya graduated from the Escuela Médico Militar of Mexico City and received a scholarship to Harvard , where he graduated first in his class and then worked as an assistant doctor at Western Reserve until his return to Mexico. Then he was active as a military doctor in the Mexican army, where he was eventually promoted to the rank of brigadier general. On August 10, 1955, following the abdication of Oscar Soto Maynez, he was appointed provisional governor of Chihuahua. During his reign, the Francisco Villa Memorial was erected in Chihuahua City.

After his term in office he returned to the military and was appointed director of the Escuela Médico Militar. After 45 years of service, he retired.

Outside of politics, he was a globally recognized pediatric surgeon. He wrote the full history of the Escuela Médico Militar and became President of the International Pediatric Association (IPA). He founded Laboratorios INFAN SA and Laboratorios UMESA, the former specializing in pediatric drugs.
