Jesaias Friedrich Weissenborn

Jesaias Friedrich Weissenborn (born November 15, 1673 in Schmalkalden , † July 3, 1750 in Jena ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Jesaias Friedrich was the son of the then teacher and later superintendent, as well as professor of theology at the University of Jena Johann Weissenborn (born November 21, 1644 in Sieglitz; † April 20, 1700 in Jena) and his wife Maria Sabina Horn (died 16. November 1654 in Oberroßla; † October 23, 1723 in Jena). He attended school in Schmalkalden and the Andreanum grammar school in Hildesheim . In 1691 he began studying at the University of Erfurt , where in 1694 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. In 1697 he moved to the University of Jena , where he was accepted as an adjunct to the philosophical faculty in 1698. In 1699 he obtained a licentiate in theology and obtained a doctorate in the field.

In 1700 he became pastor of the Sankt Michaeliskirche in Jena and consistorial assessor. In 1710 he was appointed to the church council of Saxony-Eisenach , in 1713 he received an extraordinary professorship at the Jena Salana and in 1722 became superintendent in Jena. In 1724 he took over a full professorship in theology, in which he moved up to the first position in the theological faculty until 1729. As his health was increasingly restricted, the senior of the theological faculty retired on February 18, 1742, while maintaining his salaries. In addition, he participated in the organizational tasks of the Jena University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semesters 1726 and 1730 .
