Jesper Ringsborg Christiansen (born April 24, 1978 in Roskilde ) is a Danish football goalkeeper .

Club career

Christiansen played as a striker early in his career and then became a goalkeeper. In 1999 he signed his first professional contract with the Danish second division club Odense BK and rose in the same year with his team in the Danish Super League .

After stints in Scotland with the Glasgow Rangers and in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg , he returned to Viborg FF in his Danish homeland in 2004.

In 2005 he moved to FC Copenhagen , where he was four times Danish champion and one Danish cup winner. He was also named Danish Goalkeeper of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

At the beginning of July 2010, the Swedish club IF Elfsborg committed Christiansen, who signed a contract valid until the end of 2013. At the Borås club he was supposed to be the goalkeeper in front of Ante Covic and Joakim Wulff , but injured himself in his first game and fell out for several weeks with a thumb use. After recovering briefly as a substitute, he returned in September as a regular between the posts and reached the European Cup with the team at the end of the season.

National team

Christiansen played five games for the Danish U21 national team . On 2 June 2005 he made his debut in the senior team at the 1: 0 win against Finland . He was part of the Danish squad at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea , but was not used. The same fate befell him at the 2010 World Cup , when he had to let Thomas Sørensen go first at both tournaments .
