Jetenburg Church

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jetenburger Church is a small Evangelical Lutheran church in Bückeburg , Schaumburg district , Lower Saxony . This stone village church, which appears simple at first glance, dates from 1573 , but there has been a church here since the 12th century . Jetenburg is the oldest district of Bückeburg (along Jetenburger Strasse). It used to be an independent village, today even many residents of Bückeburg no longer know what to do with the term "Jetenburg" because it no longer appears on any map. Until the completion of the Bückeburg town church (1615), the Bückeburgers also went to the church in Jetenburg. The area around the Jetenburg Church consists of an old cemetery that is no longer used as such today.

Here you will find the graves of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach (1732–1795), Louise Lehzen (1784–1870), governess of Queen Victoria , and the grave of Viktor von Strauss and Torney (1809–1899).
