Jewnei Buketow

Jewnei Arstanowitsch Buketow ( Russian Евней Арстанович Букетов , Kazakh Ебіней Арыстанұлы Бөкетов ) (* 23. March 1925 in Baganaty, northern Kazakhstan ; † 13. December 1983 in Karaganda ) was a Kazakh scientist and member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1975) Doctor habil. (1967), professor , writer , translator , literary critic .

Life

Buketov attended school in 1932 in the Russian grain sovkhoz Makushinsky in the Chelyabinsk region . His father was an unskilled worker in Makushinsky, where the family had moved because of hunger in Kazakhstan. In 1938 Buketow returned to his home country Kazakhstan with his parents. In 1950 he graduated from the Kazakh College of Mining and Metallurgy . For several years he worked as a teacher and researcher at this university. 1960–1972 he headed the Research Institute for Chemistry and Metallurgy. From 1972 to 1980 he worked as rector of the State University of Karaganda .
