The Łuknajno (German Lucknainer See ) is a 6.8 km² lake in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is located in a biosphere reserve and is protected under the Ramsar Convention .

Five kilometers east of Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) and near the north-west corner of the Śniardwy (Spirdingsee) , the largest Polish lake, it is 3.3 kilometers long, an average of 0.6 m and a maximum of 3 m deep. The eponymous Łuknajno (Lucknainen) is located on the lake .

The lake is a nature reserve and has been a Ramsar area since 1977. At the same time it was a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1977 , which was expanded in 2017 (now the Masurian Lakes Biosphere Reserve ).

It gains its importance as a breeding area for water birds such as grebes , water rails , pond claws , gray herons , bearded tits , sea ​​eagles , ospreys , red kites , cormorants and black terns . The lake has long been known as a unique habitat for the mute swan , which nests here in large numbers. There can be up to 2000 birds at the moult . The lake is also part of a larger protected area, Mazurski Park Krajobrazowy .
