Jiří Plíšek (born August 21, 1972 in Aš ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
As a player, Plíšek was only active in lower-class clubs, mostly in or around Prague . His last position was from 1994 to 1996 at VfB Helmbrechts in Upper Franconia .
Coaching career
Plíšek began to work as a trainer at the age of 19, one after the other taking care of the juniors from TJ Ruzyně, Viktoria Žižkov , Motorlet Prague and FK Mladá Boleslav . In Mladá Boleslav he was assistant coach from 1999 to 2001 . Then he worked again in the youth sector, this time at Slavia Prague . During this time he was also the coach of the Czech national teams U18, U19 and U16.
In the summer of 2004 he was coach of the top Bosnian club FK Željezničar Sarajevo , but released in November. In Sarajevo he discovered Edin Džeko among others and brought him to the Czech Republic. In the 2005/06 season Plíšek coached the second division club FK Ústí nad Labem before he got his first chance as head coach at a first division club in July 2006. After only five points from 13 games, he resigned from his position in early November 2006. A short time later he was primarily responsible for the scouting area at Sparta Prague .
In July 2008, Plíšek took over as coach at FK Teplice , replacing Petr Rada , who moved to the Czech national team.
