Jill Bennett (born December 24, 1931 in Penang , Straits Settlements , † October 4, 1990 in London , England ) was a British actress .

Life

Bennett studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1944 to 1946 and made her stage debut at the Shakespeare Memorial Theater in Stratford upon Avon in 1949 . Her feature film debut followed two years later in The Long Dark Hall in a minor supporting role. The following year she played a major supporting role in John Huston's two Academy Award-winning biopic Moulin Rouge alongside José Ferrer and Zsa Zsa Gabor . Bennett has appeared regularly in London's West End theaters for over four decades , including the Aldwych Theater , Apollo Theater and the Queen's Theater ; as well as at the Royal Court Theater and the Royal National Theater . She also appeared in numerous television productions and series. In 1981 she played the figure skating coach Jacoba Brink in James Bond 007 - On a Fatal Mission .

In the late 1940s, Bennett was Godfrey Tearle's partner . Between 1962 and 1965 she was married to the writer Willis Hall . Her second marriage to the playwright John Osborne also ended in divorce. Bennett committed 1990 suicide by sleeping pills - overdose .
