Jill Ireland

Jill Ireland (born April 24, 1936 in London , † May 18, 1990 in Malibu , California ) was a British actress and producer .

Life

Ireland began her career as a twelve year old dancer; In 1955 she made her film debut, where, after starting out in small roles, she gained major roles and fame over the years; first at the side of her first husband David McCallum , then especially next to her second husband Charles Bronson in the 1970s, with whom she appeared in 17 films.

From 1957 to 1967 she was married to McCallum, with whom she had two sons and an adopted son. She married her second husband Charles Bronson in 1968. With him she had a daughter and another adopted child.

Jill Ireland died of breast cancer in 1990 . She wrote two books about her experience with the disease. The story of her illness was filmed for American television in 1991 as Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story with Jill Clayburgh in the lead role.
