Jim Buttress is a 300 m high ledge on Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It looms in Scotland Edge midway between the western end of Stork Ridge and Badger Buttress on the Wright Peninsula .
Aerial photographs were taken between 1956 and 1957 during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition . The team of the British Antarctic Survey at Rothera Station named him in 2004 after James T. Kirk , captain of the spaceship Enterprise from the American television series of the same name produced between 1966 and 1969 .
