James Isaac (director)

James Isaac (born June 5, 1960 in San Francisco , † May 6, 2012 ) was an American film director .

Career

Isaac began his film career as a creature technician . In this position he worked on The Return of the Jedi in 1983 . A year later he was a member of the creature crew for the film Gremlins - Little Monsters . Other films in which he u. a. was also responsible for special effects, followed.

In 1989 he made his debut as a director with the horror film The Horror Show . The actor Lance Henriksen played a leading role here. In 1990 Isaac was nominated for the International Fantasy Film Award on Fantasporto . His next feature film he made in 2001 when he Jason X staged. He was also involved in this project as an executive producer. In 2006 and 2008 another horror film followed.

At WorldFest Houston, Isaac received the Gold Award for his Pig Hunt 2009 work. At the Fant-Asia Film Festival 2008 he was able to take third place in the category Best European / North - South American Film. He also won the Jury Award at the Chicago Horror Film Festival. His last work was directing the independent slasher Pig Hunt . In 2012 he took on a role as himself in Daniel Farrand's documentary Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of 'Friday the 13th' .

On May 6, 2012, his friend and colleague Todd Farmer announced the death of Isaac on Twitter. A little later it was revealed that Isaac had suffered from leukemia for months .
