Jimi Heselden

James William "Jimi" Heselden OBE (born March 27, 1948 in Leeds , † September 26, 2010 in West Yorkshire ) was a British entrepreneur .

Life

Born in Leeds, Heselden initially worked as a miner from the age of 15. He later founded the company Hesco Bastion , of which he was also chairman. With this company he produced a foldable container that can be filled with sand or earth like a bulwark ; These protective walls are used by the military, but also against floods or against erosion. In December 2009 he took over Segway Inc. , which will manufacture the Segway Personal Transporter until July 15, 2020 . He had a fatal accident with one of these scooters on September 26, 2010 at the age of 62 when he fell down a cliff. According to the Sunday Times , he was among the 400 wealthiest British people. He was also the holder of the Order of the British Empire .
