James Henigan
James Henigan ( James P. "Jimmy" Henigan; born April 25, 1892 in Boston , † February 27, 1950 in Chesterfield , South Carolina ) was an American cross and marathon runner .
In 1917 he became US cross-country champion. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, he was eleventh in the same discipline. Although he came in fourth on the US team, he was honored with a silver medal like the rest of the team.
In 1928 he finished second in the Boston Marathon and came 39th in the Olympic Games marathon in Amsterdam . Eighth place in Boston in 1930 was followed the following year by a victory at the 1931 Boston Marathon . In 1932 he finished second in his personal best of 2:34:32 h at the Boston Marathon , but did not finish at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles .
