James Patrick "Jimmy" Morgan (born December 11, 1948 in Saranac Lake , New York , † February 8, 1981 in Cortina d'Ampezzo , Belluno , Italy ) was an American bobsledder .

Morgan was North American champion in the two-man bobsleigh in 1975 and runner-up in the four-man bobsleigh. At the World Championships in Cervinia in the same year , he finished seventh in the two-man bobsleigh.

In 1976 Morgan took part in the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . With his partner Tom Becker he finished the competition in the two-man bobsleigh in 14th place. In the four-man bobsleigh with Tom Becker, Peter Brennan and John Proctor he reached the 15th place.

At the 1981 World Bobsleigh Championship in Cortina d'Ampezzo , Morgan's four-man bob was in 9th place after three runs. In the final run, the bobsleigh overturned and Morgan succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Morgan studied at Washburn University in Tobeka , Kansas .

His brother John Morgan is a television producer and was previously also a bobsleigh athlete.
