Jimmy Picker

James "Jimmy" F. Picker (born July 8, 1949 in Queens ) is an American animator and film producer.

Life

Picker was born in Queens. He attended New York University School of Arts, which he graduated in 1972. He then went to Munich and trained in clay animation . He returned to the USA in 1974 and founded his own Motionpicker film studio here in 1975. Clay animation sequences were created for children's television, as well as clay animation short films in stop-motion : In Jimmy the C , Picker President Jimmy Carter had Georgia sing on My Mind , while in Sundae in New York a caricature by Ed Koch on the sounds of New York, New York goes through New York City . Both short films were nominated for an Oscar , Sundae in New York received the award in 1984. The last clay animation film Pickers, The Age of Ignorance , was released in 2010.

In addition to animation films, Picker also worked for advertising films that were produced by Motionpicker in collaboration with Perpetual Motion Pictures. Among the films was, for example, the advertising film Arnold (1980) a campaign for the Will Rogers Foundation, which promoted more sport. Picker has also taught at Parson's School of Design, The New School, and The School of Visual Arts.

He lives in Brooklyn .
