James "Jimmy" Simpson (born September 13, 1992 ) is an American automobile racing driver .

Career

Simpson began his motorsport career in karting in 2005 , where he was active until 2012. In addition, Simpson competed in the USAC National Midget Series from 2010 to 2012 .

In 2013 Simpson made his debut in professional formula racing . He competed for the Freedom 100 , the Indy Lights race in Indianapolis , for the Moore Racing team. He finished the race in seventh place. It was his only racing appearance this season. In 2014 Simpson received a cockpit at Comprent Motorsports in the Atlantic Championship . He won two races and was on the podium six times. After the eighth of ten races, he lost his cockpit. At that point in time - as at the end of the season - he was in second place. In the title fight he was defeated by Daniel Burkett with 462 to 340 points. In addition, Simpson took part in two Indy Lights races for Team Moore Racing in 2014 . Eighth place was his best result.
