Jimmy Wilson (* 1921 in Louisiana , † 1965 in Dallas , Texas ) was an American rhythm-and-blues - singer .

Life

Wilson began his musical career in a gospel quartet, where he caught the attention of producer Bob Geddins for his bluesy lead vocals. He engaged Wilson for the band The Cavaliers, which he led, and his label Cava Tone . The recordings caught the interest of the Aladdin Records label , and Wilson began recording for that company and its sub-label 7-11 in 1952 . 1953 Wilson returned to Geddins to make recordings for his new label Big Town . With the number "Tin Pan Alley" he had a big hit that same year. Although this was to remain the only successful title in his career, his other records also sold well, such as "Jumpin 'from Six to Six" from 1954. After his time with Big Town , he recorded for labels such as Irma, Ekko and Cart , but then could no longer achieve any notable successes. An exception was "Please Accept My Love", which achieved good sales figures at least regionally and inspired BB King to a successful cover version .
