Robert L. "Bob" Geddins (born February 6, 1913 in Highbank , Falls County , Texas ; † February 16, 1991 in Oakland , California ) was an American blues , rhythm & blues and gospel musician - Bay Area producer . He was born in Highbank, a small town 10 miles south of Marlin, Texas , came to Oakland , California , like many other African Americans, during World War II, and worked there until his death in 1991.

From 1948 on, Geddins founded and operated a large number of small, independent record labels such as Art-Tone , Big Town , Cavatone , Down Town , Irma , Plaid , Rhythm and Veltone . He has also sold recordings he made to major Los Angeles record labels such as Swing Time , Aladdin , Modern , Specialty , Imperial and Fantasy for release, and in some cases to the Chicago label Checker .

Many music titles that are often wrongly attributed to other authors come from his pen or were created in collaboration with other musicians, for example "Tin Pan Alley", "Mercury Blues", "My Time After A While" or "Haunted House".
