Jinning ( 晋宁 区 , Jìnníng Qū ) is a municipality in the southwest of the prefecture -level city of Kunming , the capital of Yunnan Province in the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​1,391 km² and has a population of around 270,000 (2002). Its main town is the Kunyang (昆阳 街道) street district . The Jinning District was formed in 2016 from the former Jinning District.

The Shizhaishan graves (Shizhaishan gumuqun 石寨 山 古墓 群) and the grave stele of Ma Hazhi (Ma Hazhi mubei 马哈 只 墓碑) in the street district of Kunyang , Zheng He 's father , have been on the list of monuments since 2001 and 2006 respectively of the People's Republic of China .
