Jinzhai County ( Chinese  金寨 县 , Pinyin Jīnzhài Xiàn ) is a district in the Chinese province of Anhui . It belongs to the administrative area of ​​the prefecture-level city of Lu'an . The district has an area of ​​3,667 square kilometers and has approx. 674,400 inhabitants (2015). Its main town is the municipality of Meishan (梅 山镇).

During the Chinese Civil War , Jinzhai was the military center during the occupation of Dabie Shan under Deng and Liu .

geography

The district is almost entirely in Dabie Shan on the border with Hubei and Henan . Jinhai has a pronounced monsoon climate with an annual rainfall of around 1500 mm. The Pi He and Shi He rivers have their source in Dabie Shan in the county. In the 1950s, the Meishan Reservior (梅山 水库) and the Xianghongdian Reservior (响 洪 甸 水库) were created.

economy

Lime, granite and jade, as well as lead, zinc and molybdenum are mined in the district. The Molydän deposit is the second largest in the world. The district is 73% covered with forest. Tea, bamboo, mulberries , Chinese chestnuts and Chinese medicinal plants (e.g. Gastrodia elata , Lackporlinge , ginseng ) are grown . The tea cultivation area is 95 square kilometers and 4500 tons of tea are harvested in Jinzhai every year, with 30,000 tons of chestnuts per year, Jinzhai is the largest chestnut growing area in China. 5000 tons of fish are produced annually in the two reservoirs.
