João Batista da Silva (athlete)
João Batista da Silva ( João Batista Eugênio da Silva; born August 22, 1963 in João Pessoa ) is a former Brazilian sprinter .
In 1983 he was eighth over 200 m at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki . At the Pan American Games in Caracas , he finished fifth over the same distance and won bronze with the 4 x 100 meter relay .
The following year he was fourth in the 200 m at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In the Olympic 4 x 400 meter relay , he reached the semi-finals with the Brazilian team.
At the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 , he won bronze over 200 m.
