João Pedro Pais (born September 20, 1971 ) is a Portuguese singer .

Career

Pais was a student at Casa Pia . His musical breakthrough came after participating in the Chuva de Estrelas singing competition of the television station SIC , where he came second with an interpretation of the song Ao passar um navio . In 1997 his debut album Segredos was released .

His 1999 album Outra vez reached platinum status in his home country . More than 70,000 copies of his album Falar por sinais (2001) have been sold.

In 2001 he was awarded two Globos de Ouro as best individual performer and for Não há as best song . In 2003 and 2005 he was invited by the Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams as the opening act for his tour on the Iberian Peninsula.

With the album Lado a lado (2006), which was recorded together with Mafalda Veiga , he reached number one on the Portuguese album charts. He repeated this success with the live album O Coliseu , which he recorded in 2010 at the Coliseu dos Recreios .
