João Teixeira , with full name João Rafael de Brito Teixeira (born February 6, 1994 in Almada ), is a Portuguese football player who is currently under contract with Vitória Setúbal as a loan player from Benfica Lisbon .
Career
In the club
Teixeira began his career at FC Amora and moved to the youth department of Benfica Lisbon in 2005 . On January 13, 2013 he made his debut - although still in the A-youth age - for the second team in the second-rate Segunda League . Teixeira made his debut for the first team on December 9, 2014, when he came on for Bebé in the 87th minute of the 0-0 draw in the Champions League game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on the final day of the group .
On February 1, 2016, Teixeira was loaned to the league rivals Vitória Guimarães until the end of the 2015/16 season. There he made his debut in the Primeira Liga and came to a total of five missions in which he was able to score a goal.
In July 2016, Teixeira extended his contract with Benfica until June 30, 2021 with a fixed exit clause of 45 million euros. Early August 2016, he was for the season 2016/17 in the EFL Championship to Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan.
In the national team
Teixeira has played in Portugal's junior national team since his first appearance in the U-15 in April 2009. With the U-19 he took part in the U-19 European Championship 2013 in Lithuania . Teixeira has played in the U-21 team since 2014 .
