Joël Giraud (born October 14, 1959 in Gap , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2002 .

Giraud first worked as an administrative officer before becoming a politician for the Parti radical de gauche . In 1989 he was elected mayor of the municipality of L'Argentière-la-Bessée in the Western Alps. In the 2002 parliamentary elections , he ran for the PRG in the Hautes-Alpes department and was elected in the second ballot with 50.9% of the vote. In 2007 and 2012 he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament. To this end, he moved to the regional council in 2004 , and was elected vice-president that same year.

Joël Giraud has been a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 .
