Jo Morrow

Beverly Jo Morrow (born November 1, 1939 in Cuero , Texas ) is an American film and stage actress .

Short biography

Jo Morrow was born in Texas and grew up in San Diego , California , where her father found work in an aircraft factory. In 1958, at the age of 19, on the advice of her mother, she took part in a casting show, which she surprisingly won. The main prize, a film contract with 20th Century Fox , should make her known overnight.

Her film debut was the 1958 film drama Ten North Frederick by Philip Dunne , although Morrow was only seen in a supporting role. But the success was short-lived. She was able to assert herself financially with film offers for about two years; It was made famous in 1960 by the fantasy film Lord of the Three Worlds .

From this point on, Morrow had to be content almost exclusively with roles in television series. So she stood in series like Perry Mason , Maverick or Kobra, take over in front of the camera.

In 1964, Morrow suffered a severe blow when their daughter was born deaf. The child's father had left her shortly before. The disability of her child was one reason why Morrow initially partially and from 1976 completely retired from acting.

Jo Morrow now lives secluded in Medford , Oregon , and is an occasional actress on the theater stage.

In 1959, while filming Our Man in Havana , she met Fidel Castro , who, she assured the British newspaper Daily Mirror , wanted to know the number of her hotel room. Castro wanted to send flowers to her room, but they never reached the recipient.
