Joachim Berger (* 1948 in Duisburg ) is a German writer.

Life

Joachim Berger was born in Duisburg and after graduating from high school, moved to Berlin , where he sought contact with the student movement of the 1960s and 1970s. After studying German and history , he wrote non-fiction and travel books as a freelance writer, particularly on the history of Berlin and Brandenburg . His books on the history and life of the Berlin district of Kreuzberg became popular . Berger also worked as a columnist and essayist for German newspapers.

Berger lives and works in Berlin. On the building known as the Künstlerhaus at Memlingstrasse 16/17 in Berlin-Steglitz , where he lived for many years, an official memorial plaque was placed in 1985 in honor of his writing. Berger deals privately and as a writer with Buddhism , is a vegetarian and campaigns for animal rights .
