Amaricoccus is a genus of bacteria.
features
The cells of the species of Amaricoccus are cocci-shaped. The diameter is between 1.3 and 1.8 μm, depending on the species. The individual cells are usually arranged in tetrads. You are not agile. There is no spore formation. There is also no storage of granules made from polyphosphate . The oxidase test is positive.
The species need oxygen , they are aerobic . Metabolism is breathing with oxygen as the terminal electron acceptor. Organic substances are used as an energy source and for growth ( chemoheterotroph ), photosynthesis does not take place. The growth takes place at 20–37 ° C and at pH values of 5.5–9.0.
A variety of organic compounds can be used as a carbon source. These include B. d-fructose , glucose , mannitol , L-glutamic acid , d-mannose , d-sorbitol , sucrose , L-rhamnose , L-arabinose , L-leucine and L-histidine .
The Gram stain is negative. The individual species were isolated in the activated sludge and wastewater .
