The district of San Pedro de Cachora is located in the province of Abancay in the Apurímac region in the central south of Peru . The district was founded on December 7, 1943. It has an area of ​​119 km². The 2017 census counted 2679 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3560, in 2007 3531. The district administration is located in the 2903  m high village of San Pedro de Cachora (or Cachora for short) with 776 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Pedro de Cachora is located 15.5 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Abancay .

Geographical location

The district of San Pedro de Cachora is located in the Andean highlands in the northeast of the Abancay province. The Río Apurímac flows along the northern district boundary towards west-northwest.

The district of San Pedro de Cachora borders in the southwest with the district Tamburco , in the west with the district Huanipaca , in the north with the district Santa Teresa ( province La Convención ), in the northeast with the district Mollepata ( province Anta ) and in the southeast with the district Curahuasi .
