The Circa district is located in the Abancay Province in the Apurímac region in central southern Peru . The district was established on June 21, 1825. It has an area of ​​634 km². The 2017 census counted 1952 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2932, in 2007 it was 2498. The district administration is located in the 3120  m high village of Circa with 310 inhabitants (as of 2017). Approximately 27 km south of the provincial capital Abancay .

Geographical location

The Circa district is located in the Andean highlands in the southwest of the Abancay province. The Río Pachachaca flows northeast along the northwestern district boundary . The Río Silcon (in the upper reaches Río Parco and Río Kesari), right tributary of the Río Pachachaca, crosses the district, initially in a north-easterly direction, later in a north and finally in a north-westerly direction.

The Circa district is bordered to the west by the Chacoche district , to the northwest by the Pichirhua district , to the northeast by the Lambrama district , to the southeast by the Chuquibambilla district ( province of Grau ) and to the southwest by the Pachaconas and El Oro districts (both in the province Antabamba ).
