The Mollepata district is located in the Anta Province in the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district was established on April 29, 1929. It has an area of 369 km². The 2017 census counted 3377 inhabitants. In 1993, the population was 3,793, in 2007 the 2,901th seat of the district administration is at an altitude of 2976 m nearby places Mollepata with 1,708 inhabitants (2017). Mollepata is 42 km west of the provincial capital Anta .
Geographical location
The district of Mollepata is located on the southern flank of the Cordillera Vilcanota in the far west of the province of Anta. In the extreme northeast of the district rises the 6264 m high Salcantay . Further to the west are the peaks Tucarhuay ( 5928 m ), Soray ( 5428 m ) and Amparay ( 5418 m ). The Río Apurímac flows west along the southern district boundary. Río Blanco and Río Berbejo form the eastern district boundary.
The Mollepata district borders on the Curahuasi and San Pedro de Cachora districts (both in the Abancay province ) in the south, the Santa Teresa district ( La Convención province ) in the northwest and the Limatambo district in the east .
