The district of Cachimayo is located in the province of Anta in the region of Cusco in south-central Peru . The district was established on May 15, 1970. It has an area of ​​43.5 km². The 2017 census counted 3423 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3402, in 2007 3705. The district administration is located in the village of Cachimayo, at an altitude of 3423  m , with 1673 inhabitants (as of 2017). Cachimayo is located 11 km west-northwest of the city center of the regional capital Cusco .

Geographical location

The district of Cachimayo is located in the Andes in the far east of the province of Anta. The national road 3S from Cusco via Anta to Abancay runs through the district.

The district of Cachimayo borders in the northeast on the district of Cusco ( province of Cusco ), in the southeast on the district Poroy (also in the province of Cusco), in the southwest on the district Pucyura , in the extreme northwest on the district Anta and in the north on the district Chinchero ( Urubamba Province ).
