Joachim Ernst is a former German ski jumper .

Career

Ernst belonged to the German national team from 1980 and jumped his first ski jumping World Cup on December 30, 1980 . In Oberstdorf he reached the 31st place. In his second World Cup competition in, he was able to win World Cup points for the first time with 7th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . In Innsbruck and Bischofshofen this was denied him. In his last competition of the season, he finished in the French Saint-Nizier 12th place and so won four more World Cup points. At the end of the 1980/81 World Cup season , he was 49th overall with 13 points. The world cup season 1981/82 began cautiously for Ernst, but he was able to regularly win points after the tour after rather moderate placements in the Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 in the World Cup jumping. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 he reached 11th place on the normal hill and 38th place on the large hill. He also won World Cup points in the last World Cup after the World Cup in Planica , so that he finished 34th in the overall ranking after the season. In the following two years he only took part in one jumping at the Four Hills Tournament, but was unsuccessful. For this reason, he ended his active ski jumping career in 1984.

Ernst's daughter Gianina Ernst is also active as a ski jumper and is currently jumping in the ski jumping world cup .
