Joachim Ernst von Krockow (* 1601 ; † 1645 in Danzig ) was a court official and officer.

Life

Krockow is the son of Georg von Krockow and his wife Idda von Vieregg .

Krockow enjoyed schooling only to a limited extent, as he joined the army at a very early age. In 1630, at the age of 29, he was lieutenant colonel. As such, he had to hand over the Greifenhagen ski jump to the imperial troops. Shortly afterwards he took over a command under King Gustav Adolf and was promoted to colonel by him after the conquest of Windsheim on November 1, 1631 .

During this time Joachim Ernst von Krockow married an emerentia . The surname, which is unknown according to the current state of research, suggests that it could be an unsuitable (bourgeois?) Woman.

1633 Krockow was there on October 1st in Thurn's defeat at Steinau as well as in the victory over Count Hans Christoph III on December 22nd . from Puchheim .

In 1635, Krockow was in command of Magdeburg and Halle . In the same year, during a business trip to Köthen in June (or September), Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen accepted him into the Fruitful Society . He gave this the company name of the most important and as a motto in its length . A long pumpkin ( Curcubita pepo L. or a variety) was assigned to him as an emblem. Krockow's entry can be found in the Köthener society book under no. 257. There the rhyme law is also noted, with which he thanks for the admission:

The green bottles of pumpkin are important in length
With their leaves also cover some aisles
Darahn drawn nauff: The important thing I am called In
the company: And everyone knows
Should be the importance of what man was born,
That God's spirit chose the soul to defeat him ,
So that he should be important and capable of the fruit
that God sought for him in heaven.

In the same year, during the Peace of Prague , Krockow allied himself with Axel Oxenstierna . But after the battle of Wittstock on September 25, 1636, Krockow got into an argument with Johan Banér and he left the Swedish army.

In 1641 Krockow actively supported the formation of an imperial-Electoral Saxon army under the command of Hans Georg von Arnim and Duke Franz Albert von Sachsen-Lauenburg . But it wasn't until two years later that Krockow was officially put back into service: as sergeant-general.

As such, he was supposed to lure military leader Lennart Torstensson and his troops out of the kingdom in 1642 by means of a ruse . The plan failed because Krockow and Count Hans Christoph von Königsmarck were no match for his opponent . Krockow fell out of favor and took his leave.

The interesting thing about it is perhaps that later Krockow were Oxenstierna, Baner and Königsmarck members of the Fruit-Bringing Society.

Joachim Ernst von Krockow died in Danzig in 1645 at the age of 44.
