life and work

Count Georg Friedrich zu Hohenlohe-Weikersheim signed a training contract with the honorable and artful citizen and painter of Hall , Johann Schreyer. The count had decided to let a boy named Joachim Georg Creutzfelder von Nürnberg learn the art of painting and to show the expenses out of gracious well-meaning. The training period extended to 4 years. The teacher was supposed to provide the boy with food and storage. He promised to faithfully teach him the art of painting. The young Creutzfelder received a solid education and settled in Pfedelbach in 1650 as a court clerk and saint . When the residence was being built, there was also work for a painter in Pfedelbach. So Creutzfelder was able to build a house in Pfedelbach in 1655, where the house at Hauptstrasse 36 is today.

A showpiece of Neuenstein Castle is the colorful coffered ceiling in the great hall created by Creutzfelder. It was originally located in Kirchberg Castle , was moved to its current location in 1953, and Prince Constantin added a few pictures to fill the space available. Creutzfelder reveals himself in this picture. Creutzfelder also became known for his drawings of town views and buildings.

Creutzfelder did not live from his art alone. He also earned his living as a house painter and sign painter. He also had stables with cattle, meadows, fields and some vineyard. The maps he draws, on which the buildings can be seen in perspective correctness, are of high quality. The ceiling painting in the Bürgersaal (in Pfedelbach Castle ) also comes from Creutzfelder. In addition to the large ceiling paintings, he also created numerous individual pictures and engravings . Engravings by him can be found in the funeral sermons for members of the Neuenstein and Waldenburg lines of the Hohenlohe family. Portraits of the counts and their families are also from his hand.

Two sons of his 11 children became painters again. Lienhardt Florian continued to live in Pfedelbach and was busy building the palace in Ingelfingen at the beginning of the 18th century .

In 2006 the painting Allegorical Portrait of the Brothers Philipp Albert and Wilhelm Heinrich von Limpurg von Creutzfelder was auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York.

Honors

In Pfedelbach, the primary and secondary school with the Werkrealschule, a sports hall and a street were named after Creutzfelder. In August 2015, a school association was formed from the Creutzfelder School and the Pfedelbach Secondary School. It was named "Pestalozzi School Pfedelbach"
