Joachim Krause (* 1957 in Fulda ) is a German - Swiss organist , church musician and conductor .

biography

Krause received his first musical training from his father, cantor Max Krause, from cathedral organist Erich Ackermann, Fulda, and Philipp Möller, Fulda. From 1977 to 1983 he studied choir and orchestral conducting with Wolfgang Schäfer , Hans Michael Beuerle , Klaus Hoevelmann and M. Lehmann, organ and improvisation with Ludwig Doerr at the Musikhochschule Freiburg i. Br. He completed his studies in Catholic church music with the A-exam and the soloist diploma in the subject organ. A scholarship from the “German Academic Exchange Service” enabled him to study with Marie-Claire Alain in Paris in 1983/1984 , which he completed with the “Premier Prix à l'Unanimitié” in 1984.

Since 1984 he has been music director at the Heiliggeistkirche in Basel , and since 1986 conductor of the Basel Bach Choir . From 1988 to 2000 he was conductor of the «Concertino Basel» chamber orchestra, and from 1995 to 1999 director of the Vocapella Basel chamber choir. Since 1996 he has also been the artistic director of the traditional mixed choir Zurich .
