Joachim Kuhs

Joachim Hans Kuhs (born June 25, 1956 in Schonach ) is a German politician ( AfD ) and has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019 .

Life

Kuhs completed an apprenticeship as a judicial officer and works at the Freiburg State Audit Office.

In March 2013 he joined the AfD. and is active in the association “ Christians in the AfD ” (ChrAfD). When the previous chairman Anette Schultner left the party in October 2017, Kuhs, who had previously been deputy chairman, became her successor. In December 2017, Kuhs was elected as secretary to the AfD federal executive for the first time .

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 , Kuhs ran as a direct candidate in the state electoral district of Baden-Baden and achieved third place with 14.5% of the votes cast. In the federal election on September 24, 2017 , he ran as a direct candidate in the Rastatt constituency and achieved third place with 12.2% of the votes cast.

In May 2019 he was elected to the European Parliament . In the local elections that took place at the same time, he was elected to the municipal council of Baden-Baden . In the European Parliament he belongs to the Identity and Democracy Group .

Kuhs is married and has ten children. He is a member of an independent Anglican parish in Baden-Baden, where he acts as a parish elder and lay preacher.
