Joachim Tilsch
Joachim Tilsch (born April 15, 1959 in Schöneiche near Berlin ) is a German painter . His specialty are acrylic paintings , often in connection with spatula work.
Joachim Tilsch is the fifth of six siblings. From 1966 to 1976, from the first to the tenth grade, he attended POS I “ Arkadi Gaidar ” in Schöneiche. As a student he worked at the children's studio at the Komische Oper in Berlin and learned to play musical instruments here. After finishing school, I completed vocational training with a high school diploma at the Rüdersdorf cement works . During this time he also attended painting courses and painting circles. After completing his training, Tilsch did his 18-month military service between 1979 and 1981. He then became a stage painter at the Komische Oper and also studied painting at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art in evening classes. In 1984 he began studying at the Dresden University of Fine Arts , which he finished in 1987. From 1987 to 1988 he worked again at the Komische Oper, since 1989 Tilsch has been a freelance artist who lives and works in his hometown Schöneiche. In the 2014 municipal council elections, he ran as an independent candidate on the Alliance 90 / The Greens list , but just barely won a mandate. In the 1990s he was an independent candidate on the local council for one term.
Tilsch works primarily with acrylic paints, as well as oil paints. He often combines painting with spatula work, which gives his works a special structure. In addition, he often uses unusual picture carriers, such as old wooden boards, doors, windows and furniture. His motifs are multi-layered, Tilsch has a particular tendency to depict nature, often showing Brandenburg landscapes, as well as pictures with religious motifs, which he shows in a rather unusual way. Since the 2010s he has become increasingly political in his work. The style is strongly reminiscent of works of impressionism , distinctive are strong colors and a play with light and shadow.
Tilsch is very present with his works of art in his home region. In public space there are works such as ostrich sculptures he decorated on the grounds of the Strausberg Hospital and the Strausberger Stadtwerke or his 2010 work “Here we meet” with scrap artist Tobi Möhring at the local Edeka market in Schöneiche. His work “Schöneicher Breakfast” can be found in the market, in which he staged three of the most popular entertainers in the GDR who had their residence in Schöneiche: the entertainer Helga Hahnemann , the writer Otto Hauser and the puppeteer Heinz Schröder . In 2004 he also designed a book together with Otto Häuser, With Humor and Deceit , with Hauser contributing the texts and Tilsch the images. The cover picture is Tilsch's picture “Generations”. Works by him can also be found in the Schöneich town hall. He had solo exhibitions in the WSE customer center in Strausberg or in the “März” restaurant in Berlin, where he designed the vernissage together with actress Josepha Gruenberg . Individual works can also be found in international exhibitions, such as his “Ostmadonna” in Paris in 2018.
Annually since 1992 a calendar with 13 works by Tilsch has been published, each of which is dedicated to a specific theme of Brandenburg, including Berlin, landscapes.
