Joachim Wasserthal (born July 30, 1954 in Hamburg ) is a German industrial and advertising photographer and photo artist. He lives and works in Marxzell near Karlsruhe.

Life

In 1974 he studied in Berlin at the Technical University of Applied Sciences, TFH (today: Beuth University of Technology Berlin ), department of technology and industrial design. From 1975 evening courses for painting, watercolor, charcoal and nude drawing at the newly founded University of the Arts (today: Berlin University of the Arts ) followed in 1976 by a visit to the Lazi Academy - The European School of Film and Design with a focus on photography and photo design.

In 1977 he was a student at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and a personal assistant to Hasso Bruse. In 1978 he worked as an assistant to Rainer W. Schlegelmilch in the Association of Freelance Photo Designers with a focus on: "Action photography in Formula 1 motorsport". In 1980 he worked as an advertising photographer in the Feiler / Karlsruhe photo studio, with a focus on creative food photography for gourmet magazines "Feinschmecker", "Essen & Trinken".

In 1982 he started his own business by founding the company "Wasserthal Fotodesign" in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe. The company's focus is on industrial and advertising photography, with a focus on “linking art and visual design in advertising photography” (analogue image composition). In 1984 he was a convened member of the German Society for Photography (DGPh). The admission took place after an expert proposal by two members. Wasserthal worked as a lecturer for the DGPh and held specialist lectures, including in 1989 on the subject of "Linking art and visual design in advertising photography " with workshops on the large format camera in the International Congress Center Berlin (ICC Berlin) and in 1990 on the subject of "Art photography in advertising" ( Analog composing, multiple exposures with masking technology in large format photography) in the Axel Springer House (Hamburg).

In 1989 he obtained the master's degree in photography at the Mannheim Chamber of Crafts . In 2002 the company branch "level-extreme" was founded, producing and distributing surrealistic photographs, including panoramic photography . In 2009, a picture gallery was set up in Marxzell, a place of residence and work in the northern Black Forest. In 2010 the company branch “Industriefilm-pro” for creative industrial and advertising film productions was founded .
