Joakim Brahe

Joakim Brahe († November 9, 1520 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish nobleman and imperial councilor .

Career

Joakim Brahe was the son of the nobleman and landowner Peder Magnusson Brahe and Öllegård Turesdotter. On March 30, 1516 he married Margaret Eriksdotter Wasa , sister of Gustav I. Wasa (1523-1560 King of Sweden ).

He sympathized with Sten Sture the Younger , who tried to achieve Sweden's independence from Denmark ( Kalmar Union ) as an imperial administrator . His attachment to Sten Sture led to his execution in the Stockholm carnage .
