Joakim Wiktorowitsch Tartakow ( Russian Иоаким Викторович Тартаков , born November 2, 1860 in Odessa , † January 23, 1923 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian singer.

Life

He was born the son of Victor Tartakov . Joakim Tartakov attended the class of C. Everardi at the Conservatory in Saint Petersburg and graduated in 1881. In the same year he became the first baritone in the Odessa Opera Society. He made his debut as Rigoletto in Verdi's opera of the same name . Engagements in opera houses in the province followed. From 1882 to 1884 and again from 1894 to 1923 he was a soloist at the Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg . His voice has been described as velvety and powerful. He gave more than 100 roles, including the leading roles in The Demon by Anton Grigoryevich Rubinstein , Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Rigoletto by Verdi. From 1909 he also worked at this theater as a senior director, he made his debut again with Rigoletto. Tartakov also performed songs by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in concerts.

In addition, Tartakow performed in Berlin , Copenhagen and other European cities.

From 1920 to 1923 he was a professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. In 1923 he was named an Honored Artist of the RSFSR .

His grave is in the Tikhvin Cemetery at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in Saint Petersburg.
