Joan Harrison (born June 26, 1907 in Guildford , Surrey , † August 14, 1994 in London ) was a British screenwriter and television and film producer . She studied at Oxford and at the Paris Sorbonne .

Career

In 1935, at the age of 28, Joan Harrison became Alfred Hitchcock's personal secretary and one of his closest collaborators. From Riff Pirates (1939) to Saboteurs (1942), she worked on five scripts for Hitchcock's films. From 1944 she worked on scripts for other directors and worked as a film producer for Universal Pictures and RKO Pictures . In 1955, Hitchcock brought her back to supervise his television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour as a producer .

In 1963, Joan Harrison married the writer and screenwriter Eric Ambler . In later years she served as a producer and executive producer on the television series Journey to the Unknown and The Most Deadly Game .
