Joan Cowell Ridley O'Meara ( 1903 - 1983 ) was a British tennis player in the 1920s and 1930s.
Career
Ridley took part in the Wimbledon Championships from 1924 to 1936 . She achieved her greatest success there in 1931, when she only had to admit defeat to Helen Jacobs in the semi-finals . In mixed competition, she reached the final at Wimbledon in 1931 on the side of Ian Collins .
At the French championships she reached the second round in singles in 1929 and 1931.
In 1932 Ridley penetrated in her only appearance at the US championships in the semi-finals, in which she was defeated by Carolin Babcock .
In addition, Ridley won the British Indoor Championships in 1930 , after they had already stood there in the final in the previous year.
In 1935, Ridley married the doctor Daniel Joseph Patrick O'Meara in London .
