Joanna Olczak-Ronikier (born November 12, 1934 in Warsaw ) is a Polish playwright , prose writer and screenwriter .

Life

During the German occupation of Poland , Olczak-Ronikier went into hiding with her mother and grandmother in Podkowa Leśna , Żbikówek and Piastów and then lived with her sisters in Warsaw. After the Second World War , she moved to Krakow , where she began studying law at the Jagiellonian University in 1953 . She interrupted her studies after four years and worked for the cabaret Piwnica pod Baranami . In 1956 she married Ludwig Zimmerer , with whom she moved to Warsaw. In 1966 she made her debut with the drama Ja - Napoleon albo O potędze wyobraźni , which was published in the journal Dialog . After her divorce, she returned to Krakow, where she was the literary director of the Bagatela Theater from 1981 to 1983 . From 1989 to 1989 she worked as the literary director at the Volkstheater ( Teatr Ludowy ) in Nowa Huta .

She lives in Krakow.

family

Olczak-Ronikier is the daughter of the poet and prose writer Hanna Mortkowicz-Olczakowa and the granddaughter of the children's author and translator Janina Mortkowicz and the editor Jakub Mortkowicz . Her daughter from her first marriage is Katarzyna Zimmerer .
