Joanna Wajs (born May 20, 1979 in Warsaw ) is a Polish writer , literary critic and literary translator .

biography

Joanna Wajs studied Polish and Italian Philology at the University of Warsaw . Her prose texts and poems were published in literary magazines in Poland . Some of Wajs' poems have also been translated into Italian , Slovenian and Hebrew .

In 2004 she published the volume of poetry Sprzedawcy kieszonkowych lusterek ( Pocket mirror seller ) in the Cracow publishing house Zielona Sowa. He was awarded the Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna Prize , which is awarded annually for volumes of debut poetry by Polish authors.

Wajs also works as a translator from Italian into Polish . She has translated works by Oriana Fallaci , Dino Buzzati , Gian Antonio Stella and Valerio Evangelisti . She also works with the daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza as editor of a section with poetic publications.
