Joanna Wozny

Joanna Wozny (* 1973 in Zabrze ) is a Polish composer .

Life

From 1992 to 1999 she completed a master's degree in philosophy in Katowice . At the same time, she began studying composition and music theory at the University of Art in Graz in 1996 with Gerd Kühr and Beat Furrer , which she graduated with honors in 2003. In 2002/2003 Joanna Wozny also took composition lessons with Younghi Pagh-Paan .

Joanna Wozny lives in Graz .

Awards

As a composer, Joanna Wozny received the Music Promotion Prize of the City of Graz in 2001, the Austrian State Scholarship for Composers 2005 and 2008, the Erste Bank Composition Prize 2010 and the SKE publicity award 2010. In 2010/2011 she was “young composer in residence” of the ensemble PHACE and 2011 “Composer in residence” at the Kunststation St. Peter, Cologne.

In 2017 she was awarded the Andrzej Dobrowolski Composition Prize of the State of Styria.

Compositional creation

Joanna Wozny's work includes instrumental music from solo and chamber music works to ensemble and orchestral compositions. In addition, electronic compositions as well as works for choir and singing were created. Her works have been performed and performed by DSO Berlin , RSO Vienna , Münchner Rundfunkorchester , National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio , Klangforum Wien , Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart , ensemble recherche , Ensemble ascolta , ensemble courage, Ensemble PHACE, ensemble mosaik, mdi ensemble and the PluralEnsemble at festivals such as Witten Days for New Chamber Music , Wien Modern , Ultrasound Festival Berlin, ECLAT Festival Stuttgart, Klangspuren Schwaz , Warsaw Autumn , Forum New Music Cologne and Musikprotokoll Graz. In 2011 KAIROS released a portrait CD with her music.
