Joanne Shaw Taylor (* 1986 in England ) is a British blues-rock - guitarist and singer-songwriter who at the age of 16 years by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics was discovered.

life and career

Joanne Shaw Taylor grew up in Wednesbury in the Black Country of England. As a teenager she started playing the blues; their role models were Stevie Ray Vaughan , Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix . Dave Stewart heard Taylor performing and in 2002 invited her to tour Europe with his project DUP.

In May 2009 Taylor released her debut album White Sugar on Ruf Records . Her second album was Diamonds in the Dirt in 2010 , also on Ruf Records. Both albums reached position 8 on the US blues charts. In 2010 and 2011 she won a British Blues Award in the Best Female Vocalist category . In 2011 she received the Songwriter of the Year award for her song Same As It Never Was , and in 2015 her song Mud Honey received an award.

On June 4, 2012, Taylor played lead guitar in Annie Lennox's band at the Diamond Jubilee Concert in London .
