Joaquim Benite
Joaquim Benite (* 1943 ; † December 5, 2012 ) was a Portuguese director , founder of the Almada Theater Company and activist of the Partido Comunista Português .
He became known for staging plays by António José da Silva , Pablo Neruda , Edward Albee , Eugene O'Neill , William Shakespeare , Michail Bulgakow , Albert Camus , Antonio Skármeta , Sanchis Sinisterra and Bertolt Brecht, among others . He is also the author of numerous texts on theater theory.
Joaquim Benite died of complications from pneumonia .
