Joaquim Mir
Joaquim Mir i Trinxet (born January 6, 1873 in Barcelona ; † April 27, 1940 there ) was a Catalan painter, he is regarded as one of the most important representatives of post-modernism in Catalonia and Spain.
I studied at the Escola de Belles Arts de Barcelona Llotja , but dropped out. He was part of the artist group Colla del Safrà (also called Colla de Sant Martí ), which merged in 1893 and belonged to Isidre Nonell , Ricard Canals , Ramon Pichot , Juli Vallmitjana and Adrià Gual .
In 1901 he moved to Mallorca and initially settled in Sa Calobra , where he created some of his most important paintings. Some of his paintings are exhibited in the Es Baluard Museum in Palma de Mallorca. This phase of his work had a great influence on the murals he executed in the Casa Avel lí Trinxet in Barcelona, the house of his uncle and patron, the industrialist Avel lí Trinxet.
In the years that followed, Mir frequently changed his place of residence. In 1903 he moved to Reus , near Tarragona, for health reasons . In 1913 he moved to Mollet del Vallès for family reasons and in 1918 to Caldes de Montbui . In 1921 he married and settled in Vilanova i la Geltrú, southwest of Barcelona.
