Job Hartmann from Enenkel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Job Hartmann von Enenkel (born September 14, 1576 in Heinrichschlag , Upper Austria , † February 9, 1627 in Vienna ) was an Austrian genealogist and historian.

Job Hartmann Freiherr von Enenkel (also Ennenkl) came from the evangelical noble family Enenkel von Albrechtsberg an der Pielach in Lower Austria , of which he was the last representative. He studied at the University of Jena and then became an official of the provinces in Linz and Vienna and Lower Austrian regimental councilor.

The humanistic scholar Enenkel set up genealogical collections and secured historical sources that are now kept in the Upper and Lower Austrian state archives. He was the first to edit the work of the 13th century Viennese poet Jans Enikel , whom he mistakenly believed to be one of his ancestors. His brother Georg Achatz von Enenkel was a historian.
