Charles Augustus Rawson (born May 29, 1867 in Des Moines , Iowa , †  September 2, 1936 ibid) was an American politician ( Republican Party ) who represented the state of Iowa in the US Senate .

Charles Rawson attended public schools and Grinnell College . He then went into banking and insurance as well as the manufacture of ceramic products. He remained connected to his former college as a board member. During the First World War he worked for the YMCA of Iowa and was its committee for coordinating activities during the war ( War work council ). In this role he also traveled to Europe.

After the resignation of US Senator William Squire Kenyon , Rawson was appointed his successor in Congress on February 24, 1922 . He took on this task provisionally and did not run in the official by-election, so that he had to vacate his seat on December 1 of the same year for the newly elected Senator Smith W. Brookhart .

From 1924 to 1932, Charles Rawson was a member of the Republican National Committee ; he did not take on any further political offices. He returned to his business activities and died in his hometown of Des Moines in 1936.
